Martha Thacker (Stone) was born on October 9, 1937, to Bernie Dunkle Stone and Eula Fern Stone (Roberts). She was raised by two loving parents who worked hard and loved the Lord. Martha's love of the Lord was strong her whole life. She had 4 brothers (Charles, Carl, Jack, Bernie) and 1 sister (Rosie). The family stayed close, even though some of them moved away from Huntington. She graduated from Huntington High school and married. 

Martha had 5 children, Terre, Eddie, Becky, Roy, and Betsy. Since this was a military family they lived in many homes and the kids were born in multiple states. Terre and Eddie were both born in Huntington, Becky in Massachusetts, Roy in California, and Betsy in Florida. Martha was an expert at packing up a household, getting it ready for inspection, and moving to the next assignment. She had a successful cleaning business getting military homes ready for inspection. She had a good reputation and was excellent at what she did. 

She is survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. She loved her grandkids! She was always concerned about their welfare and prayed for their success each and every day. 

After many years living away from Huntington Martha decided to move back. She lived in a wonderful assisted living high rise on the Ohio River in a spacious 1 bedroom apartment. She loved looking out her window seeing the boats and watching the trains carry coal from the hills of beautiful West Virginia. She was able to re-connect with her sister, friends, and other family members. Her wonderful sister Rosie was always there for mom. Thank you. 

Due to health issues, she moved back to Dinwiddie, Virginia in an assisted living community. Her daughter Terre would visit her multiple times per week, helping her with laundry, taking her shopping, and whatever she needed. Terre was mom's guardian angel along with her husband Rick! Thank God for each of them!

Martha was a strong woman who had many friends. She was a mother to all of our friends. She was a master storyteller and had an infectious laugh. She loved Bingo and would win many times over the years. She would take 1 of us kids once in a while. It was fun because we would get all of her attention and treats. She was a great cook too! Her lasagna, pepper steak, mashed potatoes, chicken, potato soup and pot roast were the best! The family had so many good times growing up. She will be missed by many. We love you, mom!
