Mark Gregory Knodel1961-2016Mark Gregory Knodel, 55, passed away from a sudden illness and was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 11, 2016. Mark's infectious smile, boundless energy, gentle spirit and love of life will be forever missed. Mark was a beloved son, a wonderful brother, a terrific father, a loving boyfriend, and a loyal friend to all of us who knew him. The last year and a half of Mark's life was particularly blessed by his relationship with his soul mate, Maria…his "Baby Cakes." Mark loved Jesus and had a strong faith. Mark's reliance on Jesus and courage in the face of a terrible disease was inspiring to all of us. Mark was born on October 2, 1961 in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1983 and spent his entire career in the financial advisory business in Houston, TX.Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Jan Kindel. He is survived by his loving soulmate, Maria R. Moncada Jr.; father, Don Knodel; sons, Christopher Knodel and Casey Knodel; sisters, Jenny Sommer and husband Charles Sommer, and Kristin Martin and husband Richard Martin; nephews, Alex Sommer, Stuart Martin and Archie Martin; and nieces, Audrey Sommer, Mary Sommer, Kristen Martin and Melanie Martin. The family would like to thank all of the medical staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital and MD Anderson for the care and love they showed Mark and his family.
