Marion Billett JohnsonDes MoinesMarion Billett Johnson died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at HCI Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3424 Forest Avenue in Des Moines. Marion was born on June 13, 1937, to George and Helen (Hoskins) Billett, in Elmhurst, Illinois. She graduated from Cottey Junior College and graduated from Drake University where she belonged to Alpha Phi Sorority. In 1961 she was married to Paul Johnson and taught first grade until their own children were born.Paul left teaching and they bought a hardware store in Ida Grove, Iowa. In 1986 they moved to Des Moines where Marion worked at USF&G Insurance and at the P.E.O. Executive office. She was a member of P.E.O., Chapter GH and the Scandinavian Club, played flute in the Des Moines Community Band and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.Marion and Paul were blessed with three children, Karin (Lewis) Cowdrey, Matthew (Diane), and Tim (Lisa); four grandchildren Emma Johnson, Henry Johnson, Thomas Johnson, and Lillian Johnson. Marion is survived by sisters Helen Warren and Carolyn (David) Press; two nieces and four nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3424 - Forest Ave., Des Moines, IA 50311 or the .
