This obituary is administered by:
Marilyn O. Logan 1938-2016 Long Beach Marilyn O. Logan, 78, of Long Beach, Mississippi died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 30, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Marilyn Ann Overstreet was born on May 13, 1938 in McLaurin, Mississippi to Luna Dunkley and Howard Cochran Overstreet. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and older brother, Lt. Commander James Howard Overstreet. She is survived by her husband, Donald Logan, children Cheryl Melton (Mike) of Gulfport, Donald N. Logan Jr. (Luz Helena), brother, Thomas J. Overstreet of Brooklyn, Ms. and grandchildren, Colin J. Melton (Brittany), and Sophia Claire Logan. The Overstreet Family moved to Brooklyn about 1940, where their family home still stands. Her father was the Post Master and her mother was a home maker. Her early life was simple, but very complete for a young girl to grow up around a wonder family and friends. School, friends, family, and church became the center of her world! It was in the Brooklyn Methodist Church where she developed her love of music. Her life was filled with activities learning how to sew, cook, clean the house and can the food from harvest. Her friendships were long lasting, even to this day. After graduating from Forest County Agriculture High School, Marilyn entered college at Mississippi Southern College in 1956. Her desire was to become a Music Major and teach, which she did for 30 years. It was at this college that she met and married her partner for life, Donald Logan. They were wed on Thanksgiving day on November 28, 1957 in the Methodist Church. They would have had their 59th wedding anniversary this year. They became "helpmates" for life and produced two children to complete the family. Their life journey in Education took them to Crystal Springs, D'Iberville, Pass Christian, and Long Beach Public schools. Marilyn's life included many events, relationships, traveling, quilting, camping, and attending First Baptist Church in Long Beach, Mississippi. Marilyn graciously accepted leadership roles in her work, quilting club, and Church Activities. The Willing Workers Sunday School Class is blessed to have so many Angels as members. She was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, friend, and lady! She will be missed! The family expresses their thanks to the hospital staff of the Franklin County Memorial Hospital, who worked so tirelessly and expertly to restore Marilyn's health. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Long Beach. The service will be followed by fellowship. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Tributes may be offered at www.riemannfamily.com RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach is serving the family.
