Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Margaret Ortiz Sanchez, a longtime resident of Montezuma, passed away on March 8, 2016. She was born on Dec. 3, 1942, in Las Vegas to Fidel and Elvira Ortiz. She was a wonderful mother with an extraordinary heart; she loved all her children and grandchild and kept her brothers close to her heart. She loved going on vacations with her mother and sister Judy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Elvira Ortiz; her nephews, Adam Montoya, Leroy Aragon and Eric Ortiz; her niece, Karen Montoya; in-law, Jose (Endelecia) Sanchez; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Agapito Sanchez, Eloy (Beatrice) Sanchez, Abedon Ortiz and Florencio (Eleanor) Aragon.She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lorenzo Sanchez; daughter, Linda Smith; daughter, Carmen Sanchez; son, Lawrence (Mary Ann) Sanchez; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; brothers, Susano (Lorencia) Ortiz, James (Helen) Ortiz, and Robert (Roseann) Ortiz; sister, Judy Montoya; uncles, Carlos (Mary) Rodriguez, Frank Billy Rodriguez; sisters-in-law, Lena Ortiz, Betty Sanchez, and Rose (Al) Lovato; brothers-in-law, Arsenio (Theresa) Sanchez, Eddie (Jenny) Sanchez, Freddie (Gloria) Sanchez, and Jose Luis (Flora) Sanchez.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Rosary and funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday starting with a rosary followed by the funeral. All flowers must be sent to 4648 El Llano, Las Vegas, N.M. 87701 and then will be taken to church on day of services.
