Michiko Tackaberry Age 91, passed away on April 11, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington. Michiko Nata was born on March 1, 1926 in Fukuoka, Japan. She was married to Maurice Tackaberry for over 60 years. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2016. Michiko was an exemplary wife and homemaker! I, Diane, was her only child. I grew up with dinner on the table at 6:00 sharp every evening for when my Dad would come home. She was the model military wife. We packed up and moved every 3-4 years. We spent four years in North Dakota which was probably her least favorite move due to the snowy winters. But she used her time to sew clothing for both me and my Dad. She also took up crocheting and decoupage for which she proudly brought home awards for her impeccable work. She was also an excellent cook. She enjoyed cooking both American food and her native Japanese cuisine for both family and friends. She was also known for her homemade pies that her husband enjoyed almost daily. In later years, after moving to Washington State and buying a home, she took up gardening in her vegetable garden and flower beds. She and my father enjoyed sunny days tending to the yard and garden. Michiko is survived by me, her daughter, Diane Tackaberry and her two grandchildren Maxwell and Julian. We miss her dearly. She was a strong person and I learned many life lessons from her. She taught me to be independent, self-sufficient, and strong, like her. I also learned all my homemaking skills from her that I utilize daily to this day. Although, she lived a long life, I wasn't ready to say goodbye. We will be having a small service at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St. Kent, WA on May 19, 2017 at 11:15 a.m. where she will be laid to rest with my father, Maurice William Tackaberry.
