Mary Ann Gonzalez, 89, was called to heaven on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her entire family. "Nena" as she was known to all was born on July 26, 1927 in El Paso, Texas and is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lorenzo and siblings Nestor Dominguez, Josie Marino and Lucy Reyes. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1945 and married the love of her life on May 31, 1947 after Lorenzo served in the United States Army as a medic in World War II. Nena was an amazing housewife like no other, all while Lorenzo worked numerous jobs to provide for the entire family. Left to continue and cherish her memory are her loving children Annie Lopez (Benjamin), Mary Legarreta (Marco), Larry (Rose) and Gary (Diane); grandchildren Christopher Lopez (Diane), Mark Lopez (Yvonne), Veronica Linford (William), Steve (Michelle), Anthony Legarreta (Jera) and Dianica Jacquez (Javier) and 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Family was everything to her and the Lord blessed all who knew her with her presence; "We Are Family". Special thank you to Hospice El Paso and her caregivers Edgerock AFC and Allegre AFC. Visitation will be Monday, February 6, 2017 from 5:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-West with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Christopher Lopez, Mark Lopez, Steve Gonzalez, Anthony Legarreta, Dominic Lopez and Javier Avalos. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
