M. Geraldine "Gerry" BrewerM. Geraldine "Gerry" Brewer, 94, of Monticello, passed away at 1:55 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2017, at White Oak Health Campus of Monticello.She was born on Saturday, May 27, 1922, in Carroll County, Jefferson Township to the late Dale J. and Nora (Reames) Brewer.Gerry had been in failing health for the last several years.She had lived in the Monticello area all her life and was a 1940 graduate and valedictorian of Monticello High School of Monticello.Gerry went on to graduate from Fort Wayne Business College of Fort Wayne.She had been an active member of the Monticello Christian Church of Monticello where she became a member and was baptized in February of 1938.Gerry had Sunday School Certificates in her files from 1934.She was a long time member of the Monticello Business and Professional Women's Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and at one point a member of the Board of Directors for the White County Red Cross Chapter, all of Monticello.Gerry also had worked at the Red Cross Blood Banks since her retirement.She had worked at the White County REMC for forty - eight years, retiring in 1989.Gerry also was a member of the Office Managers and Accountants Section for the Indiana Statewide REMC.In 1986, Gerry, donated a kidney to her late brother, Dick.She enjoyed bowling, walking, knitting, and traveling all of the United States of America.Gerry had visited England, Switzerland a few times, and they held a special place in her heart.The Brewer name came from England and the Reames her mother was German/Swiss.Gerry will be sadly missed by all who knew her.Surviving are sister-in-law, Maxine Brewer of Monticello; nephews, Greg (wife Linda) Brewer of Delphi, Darrell (wife Karen) Brewer of Mesa, Arizona, Douglas (wife Mary) Brewer of Kendallville, and Dale Brewer, Jr. of Indianapolis; nieces, Susan Brewer of Indianapolis, Deanna Hekking, and Lisa Fulmer, both of Maneto, North Carolina, Stacey Wiening, and Debra Rigley of Lafayette; and several great nieces, and great nephews that she all loved and adored.Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Dale J. and Nora (Reames) Brewer; brothers, Robert, Ralph, Richard "Dick", and Dale J. Brewer, Sr.Visitation will be from 12:00 (noon) to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017, with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church of Monticello officiating.Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.Memorials may be given to the Monticello Christian Church or to the White County Food Pantry, both of Monticello.
