Barnier, 97, of Farrington Parkway in Burlington Vermont died at home surrounded by her loving family after a short illness on Friday, May 19.Lucille is an example of 97 years of a life well-lived. She was born on February 24, 1920, the daughter of Felix and Jennie Oliver Badger. Born prematurely, she was delivered by her father, the 10th of 15 children. She grew up in on a farm in Westford/Fairfax but moved to Burlington as soon as she was able to work (Champlain Mills, housekeeping, GE, and IBM). In Burlington, she met the love of her life, Arthur Barnier. They married in 1937 and doing everything together built a life raising a family. Arthur died after 49 years of marriage in 1986. Lucille's family was the love, pride, and joy of her life. In her gentle, humble, kind manner, she seemed to give just what was needed when needed the most. Lucille was humble. Her wonderful disposition and helpfulness enamored her in the heart of her now very large family. After Arthur died, Lucille developed a love of traveling and began dividing her time between her son's home in Vermont and hers daughters' homes in Colorado and Florida. Though quiet, Lucille was an adventurer, always ready for the next fun activity with those she loved. She traveled many places and enjoyed them all.Lucille is survived by, loved by, and will be missed by her children John A. Barnier (Mary), Doreen M. Goodrich (Stephen), Darlene M. Pratt (Charles), Joanne Holt, and Arthur Barnier Jr. (Jennie). Her 16 grandchildren will miss their Meme. They are Debra Thayer, Patricia Senna, Anna Massey, Diane Fortier, and Paula Barnier, Sean Goodrich, Amy Riley, Charles Pratt Jr, Kristina Pfile, Jonathan Pratt, Laura Pratt, Nathan Holt, Hannah Holt, Jessica Gonyeau, Sara Barnier and Arthur Barnier III. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, all of his sisters and brothers and spouses, and her own 7 sisters and 7 brothers and their spouses.She received loving care from her daughters, sons and special thanks to her daughter-in law, Jennie.Calling hours will be held on Thursday May 25, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:30 PM at the Ready Funeral Home and Cremation Services South Chapel 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, 20 Allen St Burlington, VT.
