ARDEN, NC - Lucille Phyllis Bunck, 93, formerly of Hilton Head Island, SC and Racine, WI, passed away on April 21, 2014. She was born on May 10, 1920 in Racine, WI. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Bunck in 1999, they were married on August 15, 1941. Lu was an enthusiastic, outgoing, fun-loving, active, loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend to all who met her. A classy lady in so many ways, she truly was an inspiration to her family. As a gourmet cook, she loved to entertain. She was an avid golfer and tennis player, playing competitively into her 80’s. She also played bridge several times a week. Yet she found an abundance of time to volunteer. In her hometown of Racine, WI, she served in various positions at the Taylor Children’s Home, spending several years as President of the Board. She was heavily involved in the Girl Scouts, serving as a regional chairperson and member of the board of directors. She served on the building committee for Racine’s YMCA, and was a weekly hospital volunteer, and an active member of The Women’s Club of Racine, organizing fundraising events for its charities. A member of Atonement Lutheran Church for over 50 years, she taught Sunday School and actively participated in most all of the congregational committees and auxiliaries. For the past 20 years in Hilton Head, she was active at Christ Lutheran Church, and until she moved to the Asheville area one year ago, she also spent every Saturday morning volunteering at a local charity thrift shop. She has left her family and friends with many inspiring and loving memories, and they will miss her greatly. Mrs. Bunck is survived by two children, a daughter, Sue Ann Teall Kapellusch and husband Robert of Hickory, a son, Thomas James Bunck and wife Diane of Winneconne, WI; 4 grandchildren: Ryan E. Teall and wife Valerie of Evergreen CO and their children Nicholas and Natalie; SarahTeall Lang and husband Michael of Wilmington, DE and their children, Patrick, Jacqueline, Jacob and Isaac; Elizabeth Teall-Fleming and husband Dennis of Arden, NC and their children, Anna, Julia, Laura and Mark Teall; Adam T. Bunck and wife Elise of Oshkosh, WI and their children, Nathaniel and Lilyanah. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hilton Head Island, SC.
