Lucia S. Herrera, 91, a longtime resident of San Geronimo, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in Las Vegas.She was born on Dec. 13, 1923 in Mineral Hill to Miguel Santillanes and Lorenza Benavidez.She loved to cook, bake, quilt, sewing, reading and studying herbs.She was preceded in death by her parents: Miguel and Lorenza Santillanes; husband: Donato Herrera; sons: Jose B. Herrera and Frank Herrera; granddaughter: Francisca Herrera; grandson: Abel Herrera; sister: Brigada Lesperance; and brother: Abel Santillanes.She is survived by her sons: Juan D. Herrera and wife, Arsilia, and Michael Herrera, all of San Geronimo,; daughters: Viola B. Herrera, Lupe Garcia, both of Las Vegas, Lucy L. Mares and husband, Jerry, of Mora; daughter-in-law: Viola P. Herrera of San Geronimo; great-grandson: Jordan Gallegos of San Geronimo; sisters: Dora Santillanes of Roswell, Rita Montaño and husband, Alfonso, of Anton Chico, Stella Montano of Roswell; brother: Juan Santillanes of Loveland, Colo.; great-granddaughter: Sariyah Herrera of San Geronimo; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas Funeral Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. today (Friday) with Father Douglas Mitchell as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery in San Geronimo with the following serving as casket bearers: Steve Herrera, Ben Herrera, Daniel Herrera, Frankie Herrera, Joseph Herrera and Marcos Sanchez.
