Lorraine Virginia Kirsch Paz, 91 of Las Cruces, NM died on May 19, 2017 with family members by her side at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.Lorraine was the child of Leo and Josephine Kirsch. She was born on March 7, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri. A member of the Greatest Generation she grew up in this quintessential American Midwestern city during the time of the Great Depression and World War II.Lorraine met her husband to be, Gabriel G. Paz of Las Cruces, when he was in the service stationed at an Air Force base near St. Louis. They were married in August of 1948 in St. Louis. After the wedding Lorraine joined her husband in Las Cruces, NM and lived here ever since.Lorraine is survived by her sister Marian Jackson (Danny) of Paradise, CA and her brother Ray of St. Louis, MO by her children David, Randall (Lorraine), Marnie (Otis), Stephen, Susan (Larry), Leo (Judy), Miguel (Cindy), Gloria, Marvin (Debbie) and by 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband Gabriel of 63 years, by her sisters Marge Lohr and Eleanor Kovalevsky and brother Leo Kirsch.She was a faithful and lifelong Catholic a member of St. Genevieve Church. She had been involved in the early years of Los Pastores. Despite challenges later in life, she always managed to find joy in simple pleasures. Traveling, shopping, family visits and sitting out on the porch. She was an inspiration to all and a blessing to the world. A vigil rosary will be held on Thursday May 25 at 7:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday May 26 at 10:00 AM the Rev. Msgr. John Anderson presiding at St. Genevieve Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the diocese of las cruces seminary fund.
