Lorenzo "Lenny" Barrone, 81, a resident of Pojoaque, passed away in his home on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Emilie Ortiz, Laura Roybal, and Elsa Roybal. Lorenzo was born on October 5, 1933 to Dan Casas and Christina Fresenius Barrone. He lived in Terrero, NM until he was 6 years of age. The family then moved to Pojoaque, where he lived for the rest of his life. He graduated from Spanish American Normal School in El Rito, then went on to a career at Los Alamos National Labs as a Technician and Photographer from 1963 to 1986. He also served as a justice of the peace in 1966-1967. Truly a man of the country, he loved the outdoors and was an expert horsemen. He was Renaissance man who was skilled in multiple disciplines who liked to work leather, track and wood crafts. In the late 80's and early 90's he was the crew chief of the Hot Air Balloon "Darn Tootin". His quick wit and boundless humor were always at the ready and he never met a stranger. Lorenzo is survived by his brother, Dan and wife Cecilia Barrone; children, Lawrence and son Joshua, Brian and partner Doris Herrera, Robin and husband Peter Naffziger and their sons, Richard, Robert and Ryan, Kristine Barrone and daughters, Christina and Katrina Duran; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Faith Romero; good friend, Tranquilino Vigil of Nambe; treasured God-daughter, Rebecca Mull; friends, Anthony and Linda Mull and family of Philipsburg, Pennsylvania; and many adored nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Margaret and Edward Tapia for watching over our Dad, we are deeply indebted to you, our Dad will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, may he rest in God's Loving Arms. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, with a burial to follow at the Pojoaque cemetery.
