Lois CarpenterJuly 13, 1923 - May 8, 2017Turner - Lois Ray (Loosley) Carpenter died early May 8th, 2017, after a short illness. Lois was born on Friday the 13th, July 1923, to parents Ray and Willeska Loosley. Raised on a ranch three miles from Fort Klamath, she never owned a bike, and riding horseback was the mode of travel, especially in winter. Lois graduated from Chiloquin in 1941. Lois met her future husband, Olof, during her senior year of high school; but she was off to college at Monmouth that fall. With WWII starting in December, Olof was off to war as a Marine. Lois finished college with a three-year certificate, and taught at North Bend.After the war, Olof and Lois were married. Lois moved many times, following Olof, to Klamath Falls, Lebanon, Scio, Winston, Eugene, Deadwood, Snohomish, WA, Culver, Ashland, Kenya, Culver and finally Turner. She taught school in many of these places for a total of 30 years. Besides teaching school, Lois taught many years of Sunday school, and led youth groups in Snohomish, Culver, Ashland, and started a Sunday school in Kenya, Africa.Lois is survived by her four sons and one daughter and their spouses: Charles (Pam), Bruce (Beth), Steve (Kay), Scott (Stephanie), and daughter, Linda (Mike Sweeney); 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Wilfred (Yoshie), and many nieces and nephews. On May 8, 2013, after almost 68 years of marriage, husband Olof went to be with the Lord. Also preceding her in death are her parents, and sisters, Joan, Maxine, Marie and Ethelva. A Celebration of Life Service will be held June 26, 2017, 1 pm, at the Turner Christian Church. Interment will be a family service at the Fort Klamath, OR, cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Lois R. Carpenter may be made to Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan, PO Box 750, Milligan College, TN 37682.
