Linda A. O'Neal was born on November 11, 1950 to the late James and Catherine Watkins. As a child, she was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. Later in her adult life Linda became a member of St. Paul Community Baptist Church. She was educated in the New York City public school system. Once Linda earned her credentials from the state of New York as a Poly-Substance abuse counselor, she began her professional relationship with Downstate Medical Center which spanned for more than two decades.
Linda was a loving caring person who was full of compassion towards others. Not only did she open her heart to family and friends, Linda also fostered kids in need. While people were drawn to her vivacious and mentoring spirit, she was known for her no nonsense approach to life. Aside from spending her time with others Linda enjoyed travelling, listening to music and going to casinos and the gym.
Linda leaves to cherish her sweet memories, her daughter Charlene Cato and her son De-Sun O’Neal; a brother James Watkins Jr. and a sister Theresa Watkins; her significant other Donald Jones; five grandchildren: Celestino Varela III, Tynesha Lance, Terric and Daniel O’Neal and Derrick Wright; aunts: Velma Parker and Mary Bennett; devoted friend and mother figure Bernice Goodman; close friend Ernest Jones along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her beloved dog Gucci. God makes no mistakes. When he gave Linda her heavenly wings he also blessed us with an earthly angel. Yelena Linda Varela her great granddaughter was born on September 18th, 2015.
