MORA, MO — Lester Elmer Zimmerschied, 69, of Mora, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at his home. He was born on February 13, 1947, north of Cole Camp on the Schumacher farm, a son of Elmer John and Edna Ida (Schumacher) Zimmerschied.

He attended Lake Creek and Holy Cross church schools and was baptized on February 23, 1947, and confirmed on May 7, 1961, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church near Cole Camp. In 1965, he graduated from Cole Camp High School . He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

On December 4, 1982, at Cole Camp, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Pauline Marie Carnes, who survives of the home.

Lester was a carpenter and had worked for Karman Brothers Construction of Cole Camp in the 1970s and G. W. Meyer Farms near Mora in the 1980s. In the early 90's, he started his own business with his brother Eldon (Butch) Zimmerschied, Zimmerschied Construction, also known to some as the Z boys, where he built numerous customs homes over the years. He was a member of Brauersville Lutheran Church near Cole Camp and had served on the church council. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Oak Hill Coon Club and the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp and was a volunteer for the Lake Creek Fire Department.

He is survived by:

two daughters, Paula A. Meives and Adam of Cave Junction, Oregon, and Tammy S. Engles of Tulsa, Oklahoma;

four sons, David Mahnesmith, Jr., Will Mahnesmith and Angie of Galesburg, Illinois, Larry Mahnesmith of Versailles, and Clay Mahnesmith of Macomb, Illinois;

two sisters, Alice Jolliffe of Marshall and Margaret Zimmerschied of Cole Camp;

two brothers, Eldon "Butch" Zimmerschied and Linda and Gary Zimmerschied and Bonnie, all of Stover;

ten grandchildren, Tyler Saunders, Katelynn Hammond, Makalya Meives, Jaret Meives, Tabitha Engles, Michael Engles, Kurtis Mahnesmith, Kacy Mahnesmith, Tiffany Mahnesmith and Bradley Mahnesmith; and

three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marvin and Milton Zimmerschied.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016, at Brauersville Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with Parish Ministry Associate Gary Wahlers officiating. Burial will be in Brauersville Lutheran Cemetery, Cole Camp, with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp.

A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp, where a visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Brauersville Lutheran Church in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Larry Mahnesmith, Kurtis Mahnesmith, Jesse Jolliffe, Elmer Jolliffe, Jason Zimmerschied, John Zimmerschied, Brian Zimmerschied, Wyatt Zimmerschied, and Blake Zimmerschied.
