HAMPTON - Lee "Buck" Leonard passed away, Monday, November 14, 2016, in Virginia Beach, VA. Lee was born on September 12, 1949, in Norfolk, VA to the late Percy and Arlene Leonard. He grew up in Hampton, VA, graduating from Phenix High School in 1967. Lee was a
Vietnam War Veteran as a 19 year old during which he was wounded in action. Due to his bravery and sacrifice, he earned The
Purple Heart, The Distinguished Service Cross, and was honorably discharged. Lee attended Peninsula Business College and also worked for a while at the Newport News Shipyard, the Veterans Administration, and Hampton City Schools Operations Department. Lee is survived by his daughter, Trina Hedgepeth; grandson, Michael Hair; granddaughter, Monique Hair; great grandson, Jabar're Hair-Howell, all of Suitland, MD; sister, Dr. Joyce Keene (Wayne), Hampton, VA; brother, Carl Leonard, Newport News, VA; niece, Dr. Taya Keene, Virginia Beach, VA; nephew, Wayne Keene, Jr., Virginia Beach, VA; niece, Staci Keene-Carter (Princeton), Arlington, VA; great niece, Jordyn Keene, Virginia Beach, VA; great niece, Camille Carter, Arlington, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016, 11:00 am, Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, Newport News, VA ; interment at Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to in honor of Lee, or to The Military Order of Purple Hearts, The , The Vietnam Veterans Association, The American Legion, or National .
