LeRoy Thomas McGettiganLeRoy Thomas McGettigan passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016. He was born on October 8, 1928 to Charles and Katherine Einhorn McGettigan in Port Reading New Jersey. Mr. McGettigan graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1946 and joined the United States Army. He was stationed with the 88th Infantry in Trieste Italy and transferred to Germany for the occupation. After being discharged Roy attended Rider College in Trenton New Jersey and graduated with a BS in Commerce in May 1953. Mr. McGettigan met his future wife Gloria whom he lovingly called "Redhead" in 1951 while working at Shell Oil in New Jersey. They were married on February 12, 1955 in New Orleans Louisiana. Roy began his career with Esso in New Orleans and retired in 1986 from Exxon with 31 years of service. He and Gloria moved to Shreveport from Houston in 2001. Mr. McGettigan was preceded in death by his wife Gloria, his parents, his brothers Robert, Charles, and Jerry, and his son-in-law Christian. He is survived by his three daughters Diana (Stephen), LeeAnn, and Suzanne (Glen). He is the proud grandfather of seven: Christopher, Katherine (Brian), Christian (Emily), Heather (Taylor), Kevin, Rebecca, and Rachel, and a great granddaughter Victoria. He is also survived by a sister Catherine (John) from Lakehurst New Jersey. Mr. McGettigan's family will have a private service at a later date.
