Lawrence Charles Oertle Jr., 93, formerly of 314 West Lake Drive, Random Lake, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Cedar Grove Gardens.Lawrence was born on February 8, 1924, in Los Angeles, CA to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Schimpff) Oertle. He attended Washington High School in Milwaukee and completed his education at Marquette University where he studied engineering. He joined the Marine Corp in February 1942 and served as a gunner on a TBF in the South Pacific during
WWII. On June 9, 1944, Lawrence married Patricia Henes in Milwaukee. Lawrence worked for several companies as a mechanical engineer and was responsible for numerous patents on vehicles and conveying systems. Lawrence was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Random Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Lawrence was a Scout Master for over 10 years and had a lasting impression in mentoring youth.Lawrence is survived by his four sons, David (Lisa) Oertle of Frenchtown, NJ, Eric (Pat) Oertle of Racine, WI, Michael (Chris) Oertle of FL, and Scott (Ruth Anne) Oertle of Spout Spring, VA. and numerous grandchildren.Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Oertle.A funeral service to celebrate Lawrence's life will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017, at 11:00 am at Wenig Funeral Homes in Oostburg with Rick Boon officiating. A burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Milwaukee.Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Homes in Oostburg on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
