Mrs. Laura Jean Menius Karriker, 80, of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Karriker was born on Oct. 27, 1936, to the late William Marvin Menius and Loree Safriet Menius of China Grove. Mrs. Karriker was a graduate of China Grove High School. She was of the Lutheran faith. She loved her children and grandchildren, crocheting, reading and yard work. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul Eugene Karriker who passed away on Feb. 16, 2013; and a brother, Jimmie Marvin Menius. Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Michael Eugene Karriker and wife Barbara of Spencer; daughters, Lynn K. Shuping and husband Dane of Salisbury and Sherri K. Beeker and husband Nelson of Lexington; as well as a sister, Carol “Bonnie” Casper and husband Lloyd of Faith. Also surviving her are her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation and Service: Visitation will be on Thursday, from 12 til 2 p.m., at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral following at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Robinette, minister. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.
