Laura C. DurmanJuly 19, 1909 - November 14, 2013Laura Carolyn Durman was born on July 19, 1909 in a small farmhouse in western Minnesota. She passed away peacefully on November 14, 2013 at Quail Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Pocatello, Idaho.Laura's father, Jens Almquist, immigrated to the United states from Sweden, and Laura's mother, Signe Brink Almquist, was a first generation American whose parents also emigrated from Sweden. Laura was the oldest of eight children.Laura taught country school in Minnesota before relocating to Seattle, Washington, where she worked at a government supply depot acquisition office during World War II. She first heard of Pocatello when ordering recreational equipment for the Naval Ordnance Plant during the war.Laura met her future husband, Frank Durman, while in Seattle. They were soon married in American Falls, Idaho and decided to settle in Pocatello. Frank passed away in October of 1992.Laura is survived by two brothers, Alton and Basil Almquist; and two sisters, Olive Durman and Shirley Busse; three children, Gene (Joan) Durman, Dan (Kay) Durman and Rainy Brodie; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Brandon) Matheny, Becky (Bert) Ocariz, David (Noel) Durman, John Durman, Jesse Durman; seven great grandchildren, Aaron and Carter Matheny, Eliza and Leo Durman, Jessica Mustelier (Felix), Danny and Melissa Ocariz; and by one great grandson, Jagger Mustelier.Laura loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family and friends, good conversation, reading, writing, history, baking, puzzles and games and camping trips.Her family extends a special "Thank You" to the many people at Quail Ridge Assisted Living Facility and Encompass Hospice Home and Health Care, for the very faithful love and care they provided.
