Mrs. Laura Ann Bentz McCaughan, age 96, died peacefully at the loving home of her daughter Marie in Palmetto, FL on December 2, 2016. She is survived by her brother Leo, 11 of her 12 children, their spouses, 53 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild! She will be welcomed home to heaven most especially by her dear husband George, beloved daughter, Claudia, and beloved grandson, Frank. Laura was born on February 8, 1920 in New York to Leo and Loretta Jardin Bentz. Much of her girlhood was spent in Miami and she graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1937. She became a registered nurse and married George McCaughan in 1943 after which they proceeded to build their large and happy family. The family are long time parishioners at St. Rose of Lima in Miami Shores and members of the Miami Shores Country Club. Laura loved playing bridge, dancing, swimming, family gatherings and most of all loving all those precious babies. She lived a long and happy life, full of adventure, laughter, faith and love. She will be missed here on earth but we know that she is now enjoying her eternal reward. A memorial Mass is scheduled for Wednesday December 7, 2016 at 8:15am at St. Rose of Lima Church, Miami Shores, FL.
