Larry P. HooverNEWARK: A funeral service for Larry P. Hoover will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11am at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH 43055, Pastor Jim Gill officiating. Family will greet friends from 5-8pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Entombment will be at Newark Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Larry, age 77, of Newark, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017. He was born on February 20, 1939 to the late William and Dorothy (Stricker) Hoover in Newark, Ohio. Larry proudly served his country as a member of the US Army from 1961-1963. He worked for the Oilwell Division of US Steel for 20 years. Larry was the owner of Legend Mortgage Inc, until he retired in 2005. He was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church, where he volunteered for the Church Mission Team and the Medical Loan Closet. He was also the Church Historian for over 20 years. Larry was also a member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club since 1974, as well as, the American Legion, AMVETS Post 51, the Elks Lodge 391. In his free time, Larry enjoyed travelling to the Smokey Mountains, and to South Florida during the winter months. He loved to work on and show his hot rods, for which he has won numerous trophies. His favorite way to spend his time was with his family. He adored his three granddaughters, and especially enjoyed spending Christmas with them, his favorite holiday. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Donna (Shibler) Hoover. He also leaves behind his children, Lisa Ann (Todd) Poff, and Bob (Shonda) Hoover; brother-in-law, Frank( Bev) Shibler; grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Poff, Megan Elise Hoover, and Taylor Renee Hoover; and beloved granddog, Coco.
