LaVerne B. Guttormsen1920 - 2016LaVerne B. Guttormsen, 96, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Hospitality Manor.She was born on May 8, 1920, to the late William and Barbara (Verbus) Chess in Kenosha. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from the College of Commerce.On July 11, 1941, she married Gerald Guttormsen in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2007.LaVerne worked as a bookkeeper for several certified public accountants.LaVerne was a co-founder of the Holy Catholic Book Store, was the President of AGLOW and taught young mothers in bible study groups. Laverne was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.LaVerne is survived by her children, Carol (James) Bellantonio of Kenosha, Leif (Margot Hirsch) Guttormsen of Arlington, Texas, and Barbara Richtmyre of Kenosha; her 12 grandchildren; and her 11 great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Fox and Irene Chess.A Mass of Christian Burial for LaVerne will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church (corner of 74th St and 39th Ave.). Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home and again on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
