Skarvan, KennethKenneth E. Skarvan, 79, a life-long resident of Kewaunee, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Bellin Hospital.He was born on May 20, 1934, to the late Wenzel and Theresa (Wettering) Skarvan.He attended Kewaunee area schools and completed four years of service in the U.S. Navy.He married Georgine Drab on July 9, 1955, to whom he was married 51 years. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2006. On August 7, 2010, he married Carole Jerabek.Following his service in the Navy, he was employed at Kewaunee Engineering for several years before moving on to Paper Converting Machine Company in Green Bay until his retirement.Kenneth was an excellent machinist and continued that passion into retirement He took special pride in custom fabrication of parts for many local and non-local residents and businesses.He loved John Deere tractors and enjoyed restoring old machinery of all kinds. He loved to garden in his "Garden of Weed'in"-- sharing its produce with others; and recently, he had fun raising guinea hens, ducks, and turkeys.While working in his machine shop and gardening one could always count on hearing polka music being played.Ken's spirit shall live on forever in the pond that he made his life's mission to create in tribute to his daughter, Rachael, who was born with cerebral palsy and has never been able to walk or talk He said the pond would be her voice.Survivors include his wife, Carole; 15 children and stepchildren: Keith (Connie) Skarvan, Kewaunee; James (Norma) Skarvan, Friendswood, Texas; Barbara (Tom) Delarwelle, Sturgeon Bay; Rachael Skarvan, Algoma; Richard (Denise) Skarvan, Algoma; Darrell Skarvan, Kewaunee; Mary (Rob) Wyman, Green Bay; Dan (Wendy) Jerabek, Kewaunee; Terry (Lynn) Jerabek, Casco; Susan (Mike) Chilson, Green Bay; Bill (Ten) Jerabek, Hemit, California; Dave (Sue) Jerabek, Kewaunee; Steve (Nancy) Jerabek, Kewaunee; Tom (Kim) Jerabek, Kewaunee Lori (Dave) Cash, Kaukauna; 37 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; brothers: Norbert Skarvan, Green Bay; Virgil Skarvan, Kewaunee; Eugene Skarvan, Two Rivers; David (Anita) Skarvan. Two Rivers; brother-in-Iaw Glenn Kunesh, Kewaunee; and his dog, Belle. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Kunesh, and sister-in-law, Janice Skarvan.A memorial visitation will be held at the Buchanan. Funeral Home, 1425 Ellis Street. Kewaunee, Wisconsin, on Saturday, December 28, 2013, from 4 to 7 pm. followed by military rites.Go to
