Kenneth F. RichardsonKenneth F. Richardson, 102, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 6:50 a.m. in his residence. He was born on October 4, 1914 the son of the late Godby L. and Adolpha Mae (Smith) Richardson in Wabash Township near West Lafayette. His marriage was to Juanita Kellar on March 10, 1935 in Lafayette and she preceded him in death on August 27, 2000. He then married Marilyn L. (Laurer) Coonrod on February 2, 2002 in Lafayette and she survives. Ken served honorably in the United States Army during World War II in the Engineering Battalion and was discharged in 1946. He had worked as truck driver for Shell Oil Company for eight years, and at Purdue University for 13 years as a heavy equipment operator and foreman of the grounds department, retiring in 1980. He had served as the Carroll County Civil Defense Director and was an active member of First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 492 in West Lafayette, the Indiana Sheriffs Association and the National Rifle Association. Surviving along with his wife are three children, Patricia Messman of Fowler, Thomas Richardson of Brookline, MO, and Kenneth Richardson (wife: Becky) of Las Vegas, NV; four step-children, Haddie Hatfield of Avon, Curt Coonrod of Lawrence, Joyce Spencer (husband: Paul) of Minnesota, and Ramsna Coonrod of West Lafayette; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita Richardson, and three children, Donald Richardson, Margaret "Peggy" Rowe and Connie Ekola. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, February 11 at 10 am with Rev. Gary Reif officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 492.
