Hartfield, Kenneth C.Kenneth C. Hartfield, age 89, of Manitowoc, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center. Ken was born on October 18, 1927 in Sheboygan, son of the late William Frank and Esther (Wilde) Hartfield, Jr. He grew up and attended school in Sheboygan. Ken was drafted into the U.S.
Army in November of 1945 serving until August 31, 1947 and then enlisting in the
U.S. Air Force on September 18, 1947, retiring from active duty after 21 years of service on August 31, 1968. On January 28, 1950, Ken married the former LaVerne C. Schneider at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Wilson, Sheboygan County. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2007. Upon moving to Manitowoc in 1968 he worked as a Supervisor/Production Manager for Mirro Corporation for 21 years until his retirement on September 15, 1989. VFW Post#659 of Manitowoc, member of the U.S. Air Force Sergeants Association, Redeemer Lutheran Men's Club and AAL Branch 1625.Survivors include his children: Ralph D. (Marjorie) Hartfield, Manitowoc; Susan K. Foerster, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Allan Hartfield, Sweetwater, TX; Nathan (Jennifer) Hartfield, Two Rivers; Matthew (Cassandra) Hartfield, Manitowoc; Michele (Jacob) Meyer, Two Rivers; six great-grandchildren with one more on the way; one brother: Gary Hartfield, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law: Joe Nadeau, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Barbara Schneider, Sheboygan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Esther Hartfield, Jr.; his wife: LaVerne Hartfield; one son: Charles T. Hartfield.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Scott Hirssig will officiate with burial to follow at the Knollwood Memorial Gardens with military honors accorded by Otto-Oas VFW Post #659.
