Kay Ann Rideout Obituary

May 13, 1972 - Feb 17, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Kay Ann RideoutDELAWARE: Kay Rideout, age 44, of Delaware died unexpectedly Friday, February 17, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born on May 13, 1972 in Delaware, Ohio the daughter of Ed and Melody (Hall) Congrove of Delaware.A lifelong resident of the Delaware area, Kay was a graduate of Buckeye Valley High School in the class of 1990.On July 11, 2009, she married her best friend Reed Rideout in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Kay not only taught Reed about love, she taught him how to express and offer that love to others. Reed cannot express how much he loves Kay and what she has meant to his life. Together they raised Olivia, now 11, and, "it was as though Kay was put on this earth to be her mom".Kay's life was built around serving others. Professionally she did that at Grace Point Community Church in Lewis Center where she was the Family Life Administrative Assistant. Her organization and "neat-freak" habits suited her well in this position. Personally, she and Reed are also both members there and very active. Kay loved Jesus and was a living example of the way Christ taught us to love others. Kay's service to others continues as she was an organ and tissue donor. Her sisters spoke of her as, "the voice of reason" and willing to give hard advice and counsel. She will be remembered as an amazing woman who thought of everybody else before herself; doing so with her beautiful smile and contagious laughter. While Reed knew he and Kay were best friends, he expressed there were many people, both in their family and within the church that would consider Kay their best friend. Just by her unselfish and giving nature people were drawn to her.Kay was also known for her decorating skills and could bake a mean cake or cupcake.A deep hole will also be felt within the Mid-Ohio Lady Bullets Softball program. Reed was their coach and Kay was the team mom in the truest sense. She kept the book, acted as a parent to any girl in need, dealt with parents, and let Reed know, in a loving manner of course, when he mishandled a situation. She was their #1 FanIn addition to Reed, Olivia, Ed, and Melody she will be missed by her sisters Kelly Wells and her husband Steve of Delaware and Kim Barker and her husband Adam of London, Ohio; her nephew Braxton; maternal grandmother; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her big church family. She was greeted in heaven by her baby Faith who she and Reed lost 5 years ago, paternal grandparents, and maternal grandfather.Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Grace Point Community Church, 2393 Peachblow Road, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035. A Celebration of her life will take place there on Thursday at 6 PM. A private committal service will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware.Memorial Contributions in Kay's name may be made to the Grace Point Community Church Benevolent Fund or Sufficient Grace Ministries at P.O. Box 243, Deshler, Ohio 43516 or online at http://sufficientgraceministries.org/support-sufficient-grace/The Snyder Rodman Funeral Center of Delaware is honored to serve Kay's family.
