Mrs. Kathryn Joyce Baker Messer, age 88, of LaGrange, passed away on October 25, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Messer was born on May 31, 1928 in Columbus, Georgia to the late James "Jim" Hale and Jimmie Mae Watson Hale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Baker and her second husband, John Messer; siblings, Mary Railey, Blanche Lynch Gaston, Lillian Bloodworth, Miriam Hawthorne McGlamery, Cora Brazell, Wallace Hale, Earnest Hale, Bonnie Hale and James C. Hale. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Dianne Thorgesen and her husband Michael; sister, Nancy Guess; grandchildren, Jacqueline Reeves and Jeff Waldrop and his wife Lori; great grandchildren, Amanda Varden, Megan Reeves, Baylee Reeves and James Rawlin Waldrop; special niece and her husband, LaRue and Jim Butler; numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with Rev. Brad Thompson officiating. Interment to follow at Shadowlawn-Hillview Annex. Family will received friends beginning at 1:00 pm on Friday until service hour.
