Kathleen L. MillerDecember 23, 1951 - March 1, 2017DoverKathy (Maye) Miller died on March 1 in Dover, at the age of 65. She was the wife of Thomas Miller. They would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on May 24. Kathy is also survived by her brother, Richard Maye of Fredericksburg, VA; her son, Evan Miller and his wife, Rebecca; and daughter, Ellie Miller and her husband, Daniel DiFranco, all of Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Maye of Dallas, PA. Kathy was born on December 23, 1951 in Wilkes Barre, to Harold and Aileen Maye. She graduated from Lock Haven University in 1973 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. She married Tom, a Geologist, in 1975. After moving to the York area, Kathy began teaching at Northeastern High School. She also taught at St. Joseph Elementary School and Delone Catholic High School. Kathy was a sports official in field hockey and basketball for over 30 years, and officiated at the State Championship level. Kathy enjoyed being on the water, either fishing from her kayak or sailing (although she enjoyed the sun more than the wind). She liked traveling with Tom in their 1978 VW camper bus on vacation or to car shows. She also enjoyed music, entertaining members of the Heritage Senior Center and Dover United Church of Christ with jokes and ukulele performances. She was a member of the United Church of Christ for many years, where she participated with the Women's Guild and sang in the choir. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday March 11 at Dover United Church of Christ, 45 West Canal St., Dover, PA. The family will receive visitors at 9 a.m. with a service at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lunch reception. Rev. Eva O'Diam will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathy's life. In lieu of a viewing, Kathy wished to support Gift of Life and Anatomical Gift Registry. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy's name to Dover United Church of Christ Women's Guild or the York SPCA.
