Karla S. Barnard, 55Muncie - Karla S. Barnard, 55, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer, early Saturday evening, August 19, 2017, at her residence. She was born on July 4, 1962, in Muncie, the daughter of Robert Lee and Sue Carol (Rhonemus) Rabenstein.Karla is a 1980 graduate of Wapahani High School. She married the love of her life, Greg Barnard on July 14, 1979, at the Selma Christ United Methodist Church and he survives. Mrs. Barnard had worked for
General Motors in the Ft. Wayne production plant as an assembly worker for 17 years prior to her disability. She was a member of the United Auto workers Union and attended the Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Karla enjoyed baking, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, horses, camping and going to Florida and playing on the beach. Mostly, Karla loved being with her family especially her grandchildren.Besides her husband of 38 years, Greg, she is survived by, one daughter, Cortney Felton (husband-Dustin), Selma; one son, Calvin Barnard (companion-Dawn Gregory), Muncie; two grandchildren, Bryleigh and Braydin Felton, both of Selma; one sister, Kathy Jo Phillips, Ahoskie, North Carolina; two brothers, Robert Arthur Rabenstein and Ronald Lee Rabenstein (wife-Victoria), both of Muncie; her parents, Robert and Sue Rabenstein, Muncie; mother-in-law, Susan G. Mann, Muncie; several nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by a father-in-law, Merv Barnard, 2011; brother-in-law, David Phillips in 2007; her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Lois Rhonemus; her paternal grandmother, Myrtle Dearduff; one nephew, Brock Barnard.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor James Ballinger officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until service time.Special thanks go to Dr. Iwona Podzielinski and the hospice nurse, Carrie Cunningham for all their assistance during this time of convalescence.Online condolences may be made to the family in care of
