Karen L. SloupJuly 24, 1938 - December 18, 2014F.R.O.G.Forever Rely On GodKaren Le (Stone) Sloup, age 76, passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 18, 2014 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was born on July 24, 1938 in Glenwood, Iowa to Irwin and Marjorie Stone. Karen graduated from Glenwood High School with the class of 1956. She married Joseph L. Sloup on July 1, 1961 in Glenwood. Together they had four children, Joe, Rhonda, Mike and Wes. The family moved to Pocatello in 1978 where they have lived since. Karen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid sports fan with her favorite team being the Nebraska Cornhuskers - GO BIG RED! Karen was a booster for ISU basketball and football. She was an active member of the Catholic Community which included the many services offered by the Church and the school in Pocatello as well as in Omaha. She loved her birds and squirrels. She was greeted in heaven by her parents; her sister, Kristie Henderson and many other family members and dear friends. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 53 years, Joseph; and children, Joe (Christa) Sloup of Clarksville Tennessee, Rhonda (Mel) Nilsson, Mike (Tonya) Sloup, and Wes (Mona) Sloup all of Pocatello, Idaho; a niece Heidi Henderson of Des Moines, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Dustin Yerbich, Megan, Brandon, Brock, Seneca Nilsson, and Tasheena (Howerton), RJ and Kade Sloup, AJ and McKenzee Sloup; and four great grandchildren, Paizlee, Kalan, Emmersyn and Emma; brother-in-law, Johnny and Annette Sloup of Quincy, Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends. She touched so many people's lives who loved and cherished her. Karen will be dearly missed.The Rosary will be held on Friday, December 26th at Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave in Pocatello at 6:00 PM with a viewing to follow. The Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 27th at Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Joseph's Chapel at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon following services at St. Anthony's Church. Friends who wish may contribute to a in Karen's memory.
