Karen Jo (Olson) HoadleyKaren Jo (Olson) Hoadley, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Yakima, after a courageous battle with cancer.Karen Jo was born on August 12, 1953 in Lebanon Oregon to Howard and Donna Olson. The family moved to Ellensburg in 1957 where she lived the rest of her life. Karen attended Ellensburg High School and graduated in 1971. She attended nursing school and worked at the Taylor Richardson Clinic as Dr. Devney's nurse for two years, dabbled in the Real Estate business and then became the Office Manager at Twin City Foods in 1975 where she worked for 38 years until her passing.Karen Jo married Darrell (Skip) Hoadley on April 30, 1983. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Olson in 1983. She is survived by her husband Darrell, her mother Donna, and her sisters, Barb (Ron) Larson, Shirley (Bob) Weyand and Earlene (Desmond) Knudson, all residing in the Ellensburg area. She is also survived by her nephew Kyle (Megan) Weyand in Richland and her lifelong best friends Debra (Green) Brozovich and Debi (Staples) Rugh also of Ellensburg.Karen Jo was known for her love of animals, hummingbirds, "Brownie" her Camaro and dedication to her work at Twin City Foods. She had a passion for reading and always had a book at hand. She enjoyed her dogs Buddy and Willie while caring for her precious roses and she was an active donor to the Ellensburg Animal Shelter. Karen Jo was a wonderful and loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.At Karen Jo's request, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends will celebrate her life in the spring as that was her favorite time of year.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ellensburg Animal Shelter in her memory. Supplies can be delivered to the shelter and monetary donations sent to the Friends of the Shelter at 1206 W. Bender Rd.
