KENNETH IRVAN ANDERSEN Kenneth Irvan Andersen passed away peacefully at his daughters home in Rohnert Park on March 21, 2017 at the age of 85. Ken was born on August 19, 1931 on Cock Robin Island to Chris and Eli Andersen. He was in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. On February 21, 1953 he married Dorotha Hendrix and they were married for 60 years. Ken worked in construction for over 50 years as a General Contractor for 35 of those years. He was a very skilled craftsman, meticulous in his work and could build anything from boats to bridges and everything in between. All of his work was of the best quality as he always strove for excellence and perfection. One of his most proud achievements was the building of the Nazarene Church in Fortuna. Ken lived in the same home in Ferndale for 55 years and was well-known and loved around town. He was frequently seen on his bicycle with his little dog, "Mutsie" who rode in a special made box that was mounted on the bike. He made daily trips to the bank and post office not only to do business and pick up the mail, but to chat with his friends. His faith in God throughout his life was strong and non-compromising and it sustained him until the very end. Ken is survived by his children, Kenny Andersen, (Pamela) of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Sandy Gibbs (Mike) of Fortuna, CA, and Jeannie Sheehan (Mike) of Rohnert Park, CA, three granddaughters, Jenni Gibbs, Susie Miller (Ben) and Kacie Weinper (Zeb), five great-granchildren, Tierra and Alaya Abeyta, Sophia and Henry Miller and Rose Weinper, and his little dog Mutsie. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorotha, his parents Chris and Eli Andersen, brother Orville and sister Carmen Renfer. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Church of the Nazarene, 1355 Ross Hill Rd., Fortuna. Donations may be made to The Voice of the Martyrs. Please sign the guestbook at
