June R. Glavis, 87, formerly of 7th St., Corry, Pa., died on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Amy's Homecare in Corry. She was born on July 11, 1929 in Union City, Pa., a daughter of the late Jewel and Marjorie Brown Long. June was raised and educated in Corry, graduating from Corry High School in 1948. As a young woman, she moved to Erie and worked at Erie Resistor Company for a number of years. She then moved back to Corry and raised and cared for her family. In 1964, she began working at Raymond Manufacturing (Associated Spring - Barnes Group). She retired from there in 1992, after 28 years of service. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and reading. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, Corry, Pa. She was also a thirty five year member of the Order of Eastern Star. June belonged to the Corry VFW Post #264 Ladies Auxiliary, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary and a was volunteer for American Red Cross and Corry Public Library In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death on March 17, 2003 by her husband Peter Glavis whom she married on June 25, 1964 in Corry, Pa., and her former husband Joseph Skalos,; two sisters Doris Hannah and Jewell "Judy" Merry and a brother Donald Long. June is survived by a daughter Sharon Steele of Summerville, S.C..; two step daughters Sandra Gates and her husband Dave of Auburndale, Fla., and Carol Beckwith and her husband David of Corry, Pa.; two sons Brian Skalos and his wife Debra of North East, Pa., and Steve Skalos and his wife Sandy of Corry, Pa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Tuesday from 4 p.m.. until 7 p.m., and attend the funeral mass on Wednesday at 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Church, 33 W. Pleasant St., Corry, Pa., with Rev. Mark Hoffman, Pastor of St. Thomas Church/(St. Elizabeth Church), presiding. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa. Memorials may be made to Corry Public Library 117 W.
