June Marie Turner was born on June 24, 1925 to the late William Ignatious Brown and Caterine Marie Brown. She was the second of 14 children. She was raised in SE Washington near the Navy Yard. She attended Catholic school until ninth grade at which time she had to come out to help her mother take care of the family. At the age of 17 she married the late Alert Reid and there no children from that union. She later met and married the late Clarence Richardson Turner Sr. and out of that union 7 children were born. She worked several jobs during her lifetime. Her last job was a cook at Morgan Daycare Center in the 1980's. She had a strong love for her family and enjoyed the time spent with them. She loved to cook and was known for her homemade ginerbread, that family actually fought over. She was very creative and enjoyed making beautiful crepe paper flowers. She loved and enjoyed taking care of them. She loved people and was known for sponsering trips for her family and the neighborhood children. Her home was open to everyone and she was a very good listener. She believed in helping others. She was particular about everything. In 1985 she started having problems with her health, however she continued to go on. She never complained about pain. She was a very strong, independant, intelligent and determined woman. She loved living life to the fullest. In 1987 she had to go on dialysis and instead oflooking at it as a problem, she turned it into a ministry. She gavethe staff awards and gifts. She also enjoyed giving her friends on dialysis goodie bags. Making the bags gave her much joy. She encouraged others even while she was going through. People would admire her strength. Her favorite words were "bless you". She was welledlikedby everyone she met and had many children that she claimed as her own. She attended St. Cyprians and Holy Comforter Catholic church as a child and Our Lady of PerpetualHelpas an adult. She made sure her children went to church whether she was able to or not. She had a strong faith and was always talking about the Lord. She touched many lives through the years. She said what she meant and she meant what she said. She joined the Anna Johenning Baptist church in 1995, presently the Temple of Praise in SE Washington DC. She loved her Pastor, Glen A. Staples and enjoyed attending until she become unable to attend consistantly due to health issues. Proceeding her in death was one daughter and two sons, Michael E. Turner and Clarence Richardson Turner Jr., two brothers Joseph and William I Brown, four sisters Louise Scurry, Lillian Cherry, Patricia Boyd, and Laurajean Pasley. She leaves to Cherish her memories four daughters; Maria Browne, Joan,Brenda and Diane Turner. One son; Carleton Turner and two adopted sons; Milton Ware and Michael Powell. Fourteen grandchildren George, Robert and Charles Browne, Melinda Richardson, Gerome Curtis, Catina Turner, Stacey Turner, Elliott Brooks, Michael and James (Eddie) Turner, Trisha Braxton, Christina Tillman, Clarence R. Turner lll, and another grandaugter(Clarence's), fifteen great-grands, five sisters; Theresa Landers, Ursula Parker, Marion Brown, Mildred Guillory and Sylvia Butler, one brother -in law; Henry Landers, one granddaughter in-law ;Lisa Lee (Michael), six step grandchildren, one step great grandaughter over 400 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
