Holzhueter, Joyce Luella (Nee Gottschalk) of West Bend, WI, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016, at The Kathy Hospice of West Bend. She was born on September 6, 1925, in Lake Mills, WI to the late Lawrence B. and Ella (nee Wollin) Gottschalk. She was raised in Lake Mills and educated in the local schools, graduating from Lake Mills High School in 1943. On June 30, 1951, she married Gerhard A. Holzhueter of Brillion, WI and the couple resided in Milwaukee. She was employed by the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, retiring in 1983 after serving as Head Secretary at Boys' Trade and Technical High School (now known as Bradley Technology and Trade High School) and Morse Middle School. The couple moved to Cedar Ridge Retirement Community in West Bend in 1986. She was a member of the Welcome Friend Committee and a past member of the Cedar Ridge Choir and Cedar Campus Ridgeville Choristers. Joyce enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting and bowling. Vacations of travel were to Northern Wisconsin, Florida and many abroad. She was a member of the Milwaukee Educational Secretaries Association and the Retired Educational Secretaries Association. Joyce is survived by one sister-in-law, Marion R. Gottschalk of Lake Mills, WI, together with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Gerhard, parents and only brother Gordon G. Gottschalk. A Funeral Service will be at 12:00PM on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr. West Bend, 53095). Visitation will be from 10:30AM until the time of the service (12:00PM). Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
