After a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Joe passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Philadelphia (and very proud of it), Joe was most recently a resident of Boothwyn and Aston, Delaware County. He was a retired Truck Driver for 40 years and was a Cowboy at Heart.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Patrick and Elizabeth Hoban (nee O'Neill) as well as his brother Michael (Linda).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Cecilia (nee McBride) and adoring children Catherine Marchesano, Deborah Hoban, Donna Wilson (Tim Horgan), Patrick Hoban (Trish), Joseph Hoban (Kelly), Joanne Fuglio (John) and Jacqueline Howley (Brian).
Proud Pop of Anthony, Stephanie, Eric, Brandon, Billy, Debbie, Melissa, Eddie, Lori, Michael, Nicholas, Caitlin, Danny, Ryan, Brianna, Krista, Jenna, Joey, Ashley, John, Josh, Aaron, Brian, Claire, Grace & Brenden and 38 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Nancy Lippre (John), Jane Strickland and brother Vincent Hoban (Cheryl) as well as many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Friday, January 19th, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at O’Leary Funeral Home (640 Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA) and on Saturday Morning, January 20th at 9:00 – 9:45 a.m., St. Joseph’s Church (3255 Concord Rd., Aston, PA) followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
