Joseph Ojurovich passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011. He was born on September 18, 1933 to Stephen & Franjka Ojurovich in Perusic, Lika Croatia. Surviving World War II, he joined the Jugoslavian Army at the age of 18. He became an airbourn demolitions expert in the Army and studied engineering. In 1958, he left Jugoslavia to work in Italy for a couple of years and had the opportunity to be in an Italian movie production. A few years later he then immigrated to the United States. He settled in San Francisco where he met his wife, Marianne Milos. They were married in 1965 and have one son, Stephen. Settling in Marin County, he started Joseph's Foreign Car Repair, where he repaired cars for many famous celebrities. In 1973 the family moved to Seattle, WA where he was employed by Pacific Northwest Bell. He retired in 1984 to Roslyn, WA where they purchased Cicely's Gift Shop which became a favorite social stop for the locals. Many tourists from all over the world came for Northern Exposure souvenirs and returned years later to visit with Joe. Joe was a very friendly, giving person. He helped anyone who needed help. He would go out of his way to help people and will be missed by the community. He is survived by his wife Marianne, son Stephen, sister-in-law Barbara Milos; Cousin Stan Milos of Haines Alaska, and family in Croatia and Canada. Services will be in Cle Elum at St. John's Catholic Church, Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. with gravesite service following.
