Joseph F. DemshokLakeside, Ohio: Joseph F. Demshok, 96, of Lakeside, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at The Commons of Providence in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on April 7, 1921, in Athens, Ohio, the son of the late George and Mary (Kauffman) Demshok. On October 12, 1946, he married Charlotte Scheuring, and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2015.Joe was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving our country during World War II in Africa and Italy. After his discharge from the military, he worked at the former Erie Army Depot in Port Clinton as an inspector for 15 years. He then became the Senior Customs Inspector for the US Government stationed first in Toledo and then at the Bahamas International Airport in Nassau until his retirement in 1980.He was a member of the Marblehead VFW Post 7572 as well as a member of the Marblehead American Legion Post 555. He was also a member and past president of the Townsend Beach Association.Special thanks are extended to staff at The Commons for the care and love they shared with Joe and his family. His years there were full of special moments.Survivors include his daughters Lynne (Dan) Madden of Lakeside, Ohio, Gwen Stamper (Gerald) Calderone of Rockville, Maryland, and Jill (Craig) Waldron of Lakeside, Ohio; grandchildren Eric (Randi) Wells, Owen (Jennifer) Wells, Adam Wells, Lucy (Claes Appelquist) Stamper, Kevin (Joanna) Stamper, Lisa (Ryan) Conte, and Brett (Michelle) Waldron; great-grandchildren Caden Wells, Phoebe Wells, Emerson Stamper, Melana Conte, Croix Waldron, and Drake Waldron.Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and 14 siblings.A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 3:00pm at the Rick Ryan Community Room in the Assisted Living Building of The Commons of Providence, 5000 Providence Drive, Sandusky, Ohio. Burial will take place at a later date in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township.Memorial contributions may be made to the Danbury Township Fire Department, 9551 E.
