Jonnie Mae Connor, or "Mae" as she was affectionately called, was born July 7,1920 to Millard and Geneva Feilds in Branchville, Texas. She was the first of six children born to that union.
She was the matriarch and the rock of the Feilds family. As the eldest of six, she set the standard for hard work and education.
Jonnie attended elementary and high school in Branchville. Known for her academic abilities Johnny may received awards and speaking contest at the same time working in the cotton watermelon fields in Texas.
In Branchville Texas she met and married Jack Ward and moved to Phoenix where their daughter Doris Jean was born. She later married Wesley Connor and that union produced Gwendolyn, Millard and Dwight.
In Phoenix she continued to do fieldwork until 1954. Being a queen herself she decided to attend Walker beauty college and received her beauticians license in 1955. She worked at Adrianna Beauty Salon for over 40 years.
Johnnie Mae Connor was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Wesley Connor her youngest son Dwight Connor; three brothers: James, Forest, and Pete Fields; and her sister Ruby Forge.
She leaves to cherish your precious memory of one brother MC Fields of Fresno, California; two daughters Doris Marshall (Howard) and Gwendolyn Connor; one son, Millard Connor; and one brother-in-law, Edward Lewis of Richmond, California. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
