Matthias, JonJon A. Matthias, age 73, a Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay.He was born on March 7, 1944 in Manitowoc, son of the late Arland and Irene (Brunner) Matthias. Jon was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1962. He then attended the
University of Wisconsin - Madison Farm & Industry Short Course. On July 6, 1966 he married the former Dianne Sieracki at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2014. Jon began farming with Ann in the mid-60s. Together they became known as one of Wisconsin's most successful dairy farming teams. Jon garnered many firsts in the farming industry. Jon was respected and admired by many. He raised and mentored his children through a wonderful life on the farm. Jon was a strong supporter of the community and provided countless jobs to family, neighbors and friends. Jon was also a strong advocate of reaching out globally providing exchange opportunities to learn more about farming. Later, Jon started TR Truck and Auto LLC which he operated for many years. In recent years, Jon spent most of his time "back by the river" with nature and deer. Jon never stopped missing his beloved Ann. Jon was most proud of his family and happiest when he was with them. Jon will be missed by many. Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law: Amy & Richard Hubbartt, Newton, Christy & Greg Scheurell, Maribel, Jean Matthias & Anthony Kennedy, Germantown, Joy Matthias & Peter Servus, Alaska, Kathy & Matt Rezba, Kellnersville; one son and daughter-in-law: Marty & Karie Matthias, Kaukauna; 12 grandchildren: Anna (and husband Travis Behnke), Abby, Olivia & Andrew Hubbartt, Margaret & Matthias Kennedy, Jack Matthias-Wautlet, Grace, Megan, Laura, Claire Rezba and Kylie Matthias; Sisters & Brothers: Annette Andropolis, Sturgeon Bay, Joe (Carol) Matthias, Manitowoc, Marilynne (Kevin Bacon) Matthias, Sturgeon Bay, Pat (Ken) Meier, Texas, Danny Matthias, Wisconsin; one sister-in-law: Mary Kutil, Wausau; and four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Tony & Margie Sieracki, Manitowoc, Fritz & Sue Sieracki, Newton, Steve & Sue Sieracki, Manitowoc, and Stan Sieracki Jr., Newton. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.He was also preceded in death by two infant sons: Mark & David; three infant daughters: Margaret, Julie & Connie; his parents: Arland & Irene Matthias; brothers and sisters: Jim Matthias, Dennis (Marilyn) Matthias, Eileen (John) Kapust, Dean (Lilly) Matthias; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Stanley & Catherine Sieracki; and two brothers-in-law: Bill Kutil, & Jack Andropolis.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 South 21st Street) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Alverno.The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017.
