JON LEE LAIR
ALTON — Jon Lee Lair, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, 45, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016.
He was born on August 14, 1971 in Plantation, Florida, the son of James and Jo Lynne (Portwood) Lair.
He married Christina Nguyen July 15, 2013 in South County, Missouri, and she survives.
Jon was a graduate of Alton High School, he then graduated from Lewis and Clark Community College with an associates in art and criminal justice. He had been a police officer first in Grafton, then in St. Clair County and Cahokia. He was later a Drug Enforcement officer with a K-9 partner in Alorton, Illinois and the former owner of his own business Xcellent Home Improvement. Jon and his wife own and operate Q and Q Nail Salon in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. His passions in life were fishing, boating and riding his motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Christina of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; parents, James and Jo Lair of East Alton, Illinois; eight children, Tori and Trent Killy, Michelle, Chelsea, Cody, Corey and Andy Nguyen, and Jack Hoang; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and an uncle, Carl Portwood.
Visitation will be held Tuesday Dec. 6, 2016 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, 1313 W. Delmar Ave. Godfrey, Illinois 62035.
Funeral service will be Wednesday Dec. 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, with Rev. Mark Scandrett officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
