Johnny Murray Smith Johnny Murray Smith, age 74, of Hilton Head Island, SC died peacefully in his home on September 26, 2016. He was born on January 17, 1942 in Lodge, SC.He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Smith and Hettie I. Smith. Johnny and Janet Smith moved to Hilton Head, SC in 1963 and have lived here for 53 years. He was a pioneer of Hilton Head working as a volunteer for one of the first rescue squads. One of the fondest memories was his passion for the little league football team (HH gators), he would drive the bus to pick up all players to make sure they got to practice and the games. He started the oldest swimming pool construction/service company now owned and operated by his granddaughter Heather. He was a Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Hilton Head. He was a wonderful Husband/Grandfather he will be dearly missed by many friends and family.He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Janet Smith. He is survived by his children Gary J. Smith (Donna) and Sheryl Smith and his grandchildren, Heather Jureka (Jason), Brittany Molina Micolau (Gian), John D.(JD) Smith and Sean Deloach and his great grandchild, Samantha Jureka. He is also survived by his brothers, James Vernon(JV) Smith (Helen) of Charleston, SC, Marshall Smith (Karen) of Moncks Corner, SC and Bobby Smith (Judy) of Ridgeland. The viewing will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A ceremony will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Sauls Funeral Home, Ridgeland with burial to follow at Great Swamp Cemetery.
