Groton - John Raymond Duplin, 65, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016.He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Earlene T. Duplin.John was born on May 23, 1951, in Gloucester Mass., the son of the late Raymond J. and Barbara S. Duplin.He worked in Public Works for the Town of Groton for 35 years, retiring as foreman in January of 2007. He was a member of the Groton Sportman's Club in Stonington and loved to spend time with his two Labrador retrievers, Katie and Jake.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Michael J. Duplin and his fiancée, Diane Gambardella, of Bradley S.C., and Matthew R. Duplin and his wife, Agnieszka, of Clinton; three grandchildren, Tyler J. Duplin and his wife, Catherine, of Johnstown, Pa., Joshua J. Duplin of Johnstown, Pa., and Christina M. Duplin and her fiancé, Jon Arauz, of Keansburg, N.J.; and one great-granddaughter, Rosa Arauz. He is also survived by his brother, William R. Duplin and his wife, Karen, of Parsonsfield, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.Donations in his memory may be made to Town of Groton Animal Control, 68 Groton Long Point Road, Groton CT 06340.The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic is assisting the family.
