John J. PhillipsHYDE PARK - John J. Phillips, 86, of Hyde Park, NY passed away on January 19, 2017 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was born on November 27, 1930 in Poughkeepsie, NY. the son of Raymond & Agnes Dibble Phillips. John was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School who excelled in many sports and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John was a Manager for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY and retired in 1987. He married Roxane McFarland in 1951 and was a loving father to their three daughters: Jill M. Block of Falls Church, VA; Jacqueline (Renato) Semenza of Encinitas, CA; Jamie Belding of Hyde Park, NY. He later married Linda Mulcahy in 1984 and she predeceased him in 2001. John was a life Member of the Dutchess County YMCA and the IBM Quarter Century Club. He played amateur baseball in the Poughkeepsie area and was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan, and an avid golfer with a hole-in-one. Survivors include: brother: Donald Phillips of Luray, VA; sisters: Margaret Horton of Hyde Park, NY and Betty Bedell of Pleasant Valley, NY. Grandchildren include Matthew, Renee, Gregory, Michael, Timothy, Jessica, Nicholas and a great-grandson, Vincenzo, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George Phillips and sisters: Alice McAndrew, Jean Jones and Mary Rozell. Visitation will be Monday, January 23, 2017, 5 - 7 pm at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the Hyde Park Methodist Church, 1 Church St., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
