He was born on June 12, 1948, to Kenneth and Lila (Beebe) Howard in Coquille, Oregon; he was one of seven children. John was raised int he Lebanon area. He joined the Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. John enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, basketball, watching and playing sports.John is survived by children, Jesse Howard, Joseph (Angela) Howard and Johnna (Leo) Romero, his grandchildren: Alyssa Howard, Jacob Adrian, Elicia Rios, Isaac and Joaquin Romero and five siblings.A Memorial service will be held from Noon to 2:30pm, Sunday, October 29th at the Terrace Green Recreational Hall, 6900 Wheatland Rd. N in Keizer.
