John Charles Lino Obituary

May 18, 1931 - Jan 19, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
John Charles LinoJohn Charles, 86, died on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX, surrounded by his adoring family.John was born on May 18, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in a brownstone there with his parents, younger brother Charles, and his grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins. In 1965, John married Ines Cademartori, his "gioia" (joy) for 41 years. They moved to Cresskill, NJ where he was an active member of the community serving as head of the St. Therese Parish Council and as a member of the Cresskill Library Board of Trustees for 10 years. Together Ines and John created a home for their children, Janis and Marc, filled with love, laughter and beautiful conversations often accompanied by a magnificent meal cooked by Ines. Following Ines' death in 2006, John moved to Manhattan and lived just a few floors above his son, Marc, and his family, and then moved to Houston, TX in 2011 to The Hallmark. John's family gives their heartfelt thanks to the staff of The Hallmark who provided incredible care to John in his final years there.John's success was immeasurable. Diplomas from St. Peter's (B.A.) and NYU (M.B.A.), newspaper clippings announcing his promotions at Phillip Morris, and plaques honoring his years of service to various organizations are physical embodiments of his accomplishments. However, John Lino's fruitful legacy extends beyond those things. This is because John led his life without defining success with ribbons, accolades, and awards. He defined success as being surrounded by his children and grandchildren - laughing, singing, dancing, or just sitting in peace with one another. He defined success as being able to eat exquisite home-cooked meals by his beautiful Ines. Ultimately, John succeeded because he lived life moment to moment. Endlessly expressive and abundantly positive, anyone who knew John was aware that no one embraced the present like he did. John is preceded in death by Ines and is survived by his daughter, Janis Jarosz and son-in-law Paul Jarosz of Houston, TX, his son Marc Lino and daughter-in-law Lynne Lino of Aberdeenshire, Scotland and his grandchildren, Isabella and Luca Jarosz, and Cade and Mattea Lino. To say that they are going to miss their brilliant and adorable father/grandfather is a great understatement. But they take comfort in their incredible memories. The funeral will be conducted by Becker Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial provider, at 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received there on Thursday, June 22nd from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Catholic mass will be held at St. Therese Church, 120 Monroe Ave., Cresskill, NJ at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23rd followed by John's burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to would be appreciated. Becker-funeralhome.com
