John C. Van Aken died at his home on March 28, 2012 after courageously battling cancer. He was born on December 3, 1945 in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin to Albert C. and Nona Van Aken. John was a Kofa High School graduate, a Vietnam Veteran (U.S. Army) and part of a sand drag team that he thought the world of. John retired from YPG (Civil Service) in 2003 after 33 years of Federal service. He was a member of the Eagles and The American Legion. John is survived by his wife, Jeana; son, Clay (Sheri); daughter, Jennifer (Randall); grandchildren, Jordan, Jenessey, Relijia, Teisha, Justice and Randall Jr.; sister, Gretchen (Jerry); brother, Jeff (Kristi). He is also survived by aunts, an uncle, nieces, a nephew and many cousins. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Carroll and all the staff at Yuma Regional Cancer Center, Main Street Physical Therapy and the compassionate and caring team from Hospice of Yuma. You all helped to make John's quality of life better. Thank you also to all our friends and family for all their thoughts and prayers through this journey. Memories warm our hearts and give us strength. John's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 5:00 PM at the Eagles (225 S. 1st Avenue). Cremation was taken care of by Yuma Mortuary & Crematory.
