John Crowson Baldwin Jr., 84, of Rockingham, N.C., passed away on July 19, 2014 at Richmond Pines Nursing Home.

John C. was born on Dec. 8, 1929 to the late John Crowson Baldwin Sr. and Elizabeth Everett Baldwin of Rockingham.

John C. was married to the late Vivian Lucille McCoy and together had three children, Gwendolyn Annette Baldwin (Rockingham), John Crowson Baldwin III (Rockingham) and Toriano Algernon Baldwin (Graham, N.C.); 12 grandchildren, two of which from the home, LaTaisha Shonette McCreary (Charlotte) and Terrence David Dorsey (Charlotte); five great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

His sisters, Daisy Catherine Morris, Hettie Lee Glover, Avernell Mason and Martha Allie Mae Baldwin Robinson precede him.

He is survived by his sister, Beatrice Cagle of Newark, N.J.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home in Rockingham.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
